HOUSE DETAILS

Houses will be provided to the teams in assembled format. Front and back pieces will be approximately  3" x  6" with a peak of 4.5".  Side pieces will be approximately 3” x  5.5".  Roof pieces will be approximately 5" x 7". Teams will be allowed to disassemble their houses to utilize the pieces as they wish.

A platform measuring approximately 14” x 18” will be provided. Houses must be assembled on the platform.

Please note, the gingerbread houses are made by the University bakery. The bakery is not a nut free facility. We cannot guarantee the absence of cross contamination with other baked goods.

DECORATIVE SUPPLIES

Below is a list of items that have been supplied in the past. The list below was updated December 4, 2023.

Each team will be provided with 5 aprons, 5 bottles of water, a package of hand wipes, and a supply bin.

The supply bins will contain the following decorative supplies:

Miscellaneous Supply Information

  • The quantity of the decorative supplies will not be provided ahead of time.
  • We reserve the right to make substitutions.
  • A number of “mystery” decorative items will be distributed to each team during the competition. Teams must fully utilize all mystery items in a visible, constructive manner in the decor of their houses.
  • Additional quantities of the decor supplies found in the bins may be made available to the teams during the competition.
  • Teams may barter, swap and borrow supplies from other teams.

Allowable Utensils

One per team member may be brought into the competition.

  • If a team is comprised of less than five members, five utensils are still allowed.  

Each utensil below counts as one item unless otherwise noted.

  • Scissors
  • Knife
  • Spatula or Spatula Knife
  • X-Acto Knife (with replacement blades, okay)
  • Multi-tool (Swiss Army knife)
  • Rolling Pin
  • Tweezers
  • Cookie Cutter
  • Paint Brush (one per person/not sets)
  • Meat Pounder
  • Large Bowl (each team will be provided with 5 small paper bowls)
  • A set of up to five frosting tips and couplers (the set counts as one utensil)

Utensils Not Allowed

  • Tape
  • Stencils
  • Power tools (i.e. drill)
  • Toothpicks
  • Lighters
  • Freeze spray
  • Paste food coloring

    Allowable Items NOT Counted as Utensils

    • Blueprints and notes.
    • One small fan or hairdryer per team to aid in the frosting drying process. We cannot guarantee access to power.
    • Extension cord for fan or hairdryer.
    • Pair of rubber gloves per team member.
    • Cell phones.
